About Us
Hi, my name is Clare and I am a life coach and a teacher. I really enjoy making a difference in children’s lives and supporting families. It is amazing to see how some well-timed and well-planned interventions can make such rewarding changes. These changes have often provided children with a new way of looking at life and given them skills to competently deal with the next challenge that they might face.
My passion is Positive Psychology. I am excited by what this has to offer and reassured that activities that enhance wellbeing have been scientifically researched and shown to work.
I started Fleetwood Life Coaching in 2003 when I noticed that some of the children that I was working with in the classroom needed something extra that didn’t seem to be available anywhere for them. The idea had been percolating while I completed my degree in psychology extramurally and taught full-time. Moving out of full-time teaching to raise my own family gave me the opportunity to begin putting my ideas in action.
Alongside coaching, I became a specialist teacher working at the Central Regional Health School, supporting students unable to attend their regular school for physical or mental health reasons. These days I’m a specialist teacher in the education of students with special learning needs, and I am back in the classroom part-time.
‘Love of Learning’ is my top strength and an integral part of who I am. My son calls me ‘a book nerd’ as I read copious texts and research. I am a CiPP Graduate and have a life-time connection to the Wholebeing Institute in USA. I am a member of the New Zealand Assocation of Positive Psychology (NZAPP) and maintain contact with the Institute of Positive Education in Geelong, Australia.
I began with a Diploma in Teaching, and then completed my BA (Psychology). More recently I have completed a Certificate in Positive Psychology (CiPP) and a Certificate in Positive Psychology Coaching.
I use my years of experience as a classroom teacher and specialist teacher as well as Positive Psychology research when designing programmes to suit your family and your child.
